We strive to break down the barriers and stigma associated with mental health, encouraging open conversations and promoting understanding.

• Elysium Centre is a serene and inviting 10-bed transitional living facility nestled in the heart of West Los Angeles. Elysium Centre combines trauma-focused, evidence-based therapies and holistic interventions, with a a team of experienced and caring therapists, nutritionists, fitness experts, and more, to create individualized treatment plans to help our clients heal.
Once Upon a Trauma
Once Upon a Trauma is a documentary series that features real people, real stories, and real transformation. Through the “one-way mirror” of television, viewers follow eight ordinary people under the care of a one-of-a-kind therapist as they bravely confront atrocities, betrayals, and injustices.

Who We Are
Thuy Bui, Ph.D. is the creator and Executive Director of Life Design Centre, an innovative psychotherapy studio dedicated to helping clients discover their authentic selves and live with purpose, meaning, and beauty. Through a holistic approach, Life Design Centre inspires individuals to expand their potential, move toward wholeness, and deepen their connections with others.
A licensed mental health professional and certified specialist in complex trauma and sexuality, Dr. Thuy is widely recognized as a leader in the field of trauma therapy. With over a decade of experience, she has worked extensively with individuals, couples, families, and children, addressing issues ranging from complex trauma to relationship and sexual challenges. Dr. Thuy holds certifications in EMDR therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Neurotherapy, and equine-assisted therapy, and she skillfully integrates these modalities with depth psychology, particularly in Archetypal and Jungian psychotherapy, to foster profound and lasting healing.
Dr. Thuy’s expertise is shaped by her extensive work across some of the most respected institutions in mental health and healthcare. She has served as a researcher at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and the UCLA MARC Mindfulness Education Center, bringing evidence-based practices to the forefront of her work. Her professional experience includes roles within the Department of Mental Health, Department of Children and Family Services, USC Norris Cancer Hospital, LAC+USC Medical Center, Del Amo Inpatient Hospital, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where she supported diverse populations through holistic and trauma-informed approaches to care.

Dr. Thuy is currently writing her first book, Evocative Healing, which explores transformative approaches to healing trauma and fostering resilience through emotional, psychological, and interpersonal growth. The book aims to empower readers by offering practical tools for navigating life’s challenges while embracing the beauty of the healing journey.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Thuy founded the Elysium Centre, a community-focused initiative designed to provide a sanctuary for healing. Elysium Centre offers free grief, trauma, and emotional support programs to children, families, and individuals, ensuring accessible care for those in need.
Dr. Thuy’s commitment to service extends to her role with People Heal People, a nonprofit organization where she is actively involved in coordinating aid for communities affected by recent disasters, including the Palisades and Eaton Fires. She is a strong advocate for collective healing and believes in the power of community to restore hope and resilience during times of crisis.
